Sugurr testimonial programme
The brief
Read this before you film. A submission that follows it earns the $50 submission payment whether or not we use the video.
Before you film
- You must be an accepted participant with a participation code. Unsolicited videos are not reviewed or paid.
- Use Sugurr at sugurr.com for at least 7 days starting on the trial start date in your acceptance email. Your complimentary year of premium is applied automatically when you sign up or log in with the email you applied with.
- Read the appearance release now. If you're not comfortable with non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide usage, tell us before you spend time filming.
What to talk about
There's no script, so this replaces it. Pick any 3–4 of these and answer them in your own words, talking to the camera like you're telling a friend:
- What dating apps have you used before, and why did you stop?
- What was the signup like? How long did it take?
- What did you think when you first saw who was on there?
- Did anything surprise you — good or bad?
- Who would you tell to try this?
At some point, mention naturally that it's at sugurr.com, and that you can save it to your home screen or get the Android app on Google Play. Don't force it — say it the way you'd tell a friend where to find something.
What makes a video get selected: specificity.
"It was good" is unusable. "I had three real conversations in the first two days and none of them opened with 'hey'" is a whole ad. Numbers, names of features, what actually happened — that's what we can use.
Ground rules
- Your genuine opinion. If you didn't like the app, say so. We'd rather know, and an honest negative still earns the submission payment.
- Do not claim anything that didn't actually happen to you. No invented dates, matches or outcomes.
- Mention that you used it for a week and that you were paid to share your opinion if it feels natural — licensed videos will carry a "paid endorsement" disclosure either way.
- Fully clothed, nothing suggestive or adult in nature. No other people in the shot unless they've agreed to appear.
- Your own footage, filmed by you. No stock, no clips from other creators.
Technical
- Vertical (9:16), on a recent phone. 4K at 30 fps if your phone does it (1080p is fine).
- Face a window, not a lamp. Never a window behind you.
- Quiet room or quiet outdoors, no wind, no music.
- Hold the phone at eye level, face in the upper-middle of the frame.
- Two seconds of silence at the start and end.
- Don't edit it. Send it raw. No captions, filters, stickers, music or cuts. We use your video as-is — an edited or spliced take looks fake.
- If you flub a line, stop and do a new take from the top. We don't cut or edit, so the video needs to be one clean take. Film as many takes as you like and upload the best one.
- 30–60 seconds in one take; keep it under 90.
- Upload the original file from your phone (MP4 or MOV, up to 1 GB). Do not send it through a messaging app — that compresses it.
Submitting
- Sign in at gigs.sugurr.com/login with your email and upload the video from your dashboard by your deadline.
- Upload your government ID (18+ check) and your payout details (Zelle, Venmo or PayPal) before the video — the upload unlocks once we've verified your ID and your payout details are saved.
- One submission per person. Your code is not transferable. If we ask for changes, you can upload a new version until the deadline.
Payment
- $50 for a submission that meets this brief — whether or not we use it.
- $250 if we license your video for advertising, after you sign the appearance release (download the PDF from your dashboard, sign, upload it back).
- $100 more if we ask for 3 short alternate openings ("hooks") plus your raw footage.
- Paid via Zelle, Venmo or PayPal within 10 business days of approval (or of the signed release, for the license payment).
